However, there are cases, when there is no visible reason of the reduced production of sperm. And if the analysis shows the sperm concentration to be less than five million per one milliliter of semen, some genetic reasons may have something to do here. It is only the blood test, which can possibly reveal if there are any subtle changes in the Y chromosome.
Impaired delivery of sperm One of the reasons of male’s infertility may also become some problems, connected with the delivery of sperm from the penis into his female partner’s vagina. These are the following possible reasons of them:
Sexual issues. There may be some problems, which concern either sexual intercourse or technique, which may affect men’s fertility in a negative way. As a rule, most of these problems are easy treatable. They include: some difficulties with erection of the penis (it is also called the erectile dysfunction), painful sexual contacts (which is called dyspareunia), premature ejaculation or different kinds of psychological or relationship problems. Moreover, using lubricants, like oil oils or petroleum jelly can be toxic to sperm and they may also cause problems with fertility.
Retrograde ejaculation. This is the condition, when the semen during orgasm enters the bladder instead of getting out through the opening in the top of the penis. There are many diseases, which may be the reasons of the retrograde ejaculation, like diabetes, conducted prostate or urethral surgery, as well as the application of some certain medicines.
Blockage of epididymis or ejaculatory ducts. There are men, who are born with the part of their testicle, where the sperm is contained (epididymis), being blockaded. Some men also have no the tube, which carries the sperm from the testicles out toward the top of the penis (vas deferens).
Complete lack of semen (ejaculate). If a man got any disease or injury of his spinal cord, he may have complete lack of semen (the fluid, which carries the sperm from the penis into the woman’s vagina).
Misplaced urinary opening (hypospadias). This is a kind of the birth defect, which can be the reason of the urinary opening being located not on the top of the penis, but on the underside of it. In case if no surgery is conducted in order to correct it, this may be the prevention of the sperm’s from reaching the cervix of a woman.
Presence of anti – sperm antibodies. These antibodies make the sperm weaker or completely disabled. It may be one of the side – effects of the blockage of the part of vas deferens for male sterilization (vasectomy) surgical correction. In case if these antibodies are present, this may complicate the reversal of a vasectomy.
Cystic fibrosis. In case if a man suffers from cystic fibrosis, he will most likely have either missing or obstructed vas deferens.
